City of Irrigon is Hiring

The City of Irrigon is seeking a self-directed, highly qualified, and motivated professional to add to our team. We are seeking the right person to fill the position of City Clerk.

The position works under the general direction of the Finance & Administrative Director.  The individual in this position is to perform various functions regarding utility billing, municipal court, record keeping and organization and other general clerical duties for the city. Demonstrate excellent customer service to constituents by greeting visitors and answering phones in a friendly engaging manner. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least two years’ responsible clerical/secretarial or municipal experience. Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalency; an associate degree in public administration is preferred.
  • Instruct individuals on basic land use processes and applications
  • Attend, record and transcribe minutes of the city’s meetings after regular work hours
  • Perform notary services
  • Skills in managing and maintaining city website
  • Knowledge of secretarial principles including word processing, records maintenance, grammar, punctuation, spelling, research, report writing, minute taking and public relations and use of office equipment
  • Ability to learn and understand land use planning processes in accordance with city codes
  • Ability to pay close attention and notice minor details, catching mistakes, errors, or changes
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Deal with conflict in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Working knowledge pertinent to Federal, State, County and City laws, rules, regulations, and policies
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping
    Ability to establish and maintain effective team orientated working relationships with other staff and the public in a courteous and professional manner, resulting in great customer service.
    • Ability to use Microsoft products.

 

This is a nonexempt position. The salary for this position is $3,584.47/month. The City of Irrigon offers a competitive benefit package and supports Equal Employment Opportunities.
